MAYAN FIGHTER
(This knife was an Ebay sale but I will happily make you a copy as close as possible.)
WOW! This is awesome! The pictures can not do this set justice!
A ceremonial Mayan style dagger. A 6" center blade and two 2" side blades were hafted into the wooden handle using my ingenious artificial pine pitch. (it is virtually indistinguishable from the real thing!)
The center blade is 1&5/8" wide and the two side blades are almost 5/8" wide at the bases. All three blades were made from the same grey, South Texas flint, worked down by hand. Hand working the blades from a whole rock makes the matching blade shades even more important.
The handle was hand carved and sanded from a piece of Arromatic Red Cedar, and carefully hollowed out to custom fit ALL THREE BLADES. Several clearcoats are then added to bring out the natural colors of one of the most beautiful native woods we have. The extra time spent gave the whole knife the best overall balance and aesthetic appeal.
The stand is the sole invention/idea of SPIRIT WIND (and also the forerunner to SPIRIT WIND's awesome Cub Scout 'Arrow of Light' award plaques!) and although many have tried to copy them since their introduction around 15 years ago, no one has been successful to date. It is made from a beautiful honey-stained pine and has the full main beam of a deer's antler as the knife support. The deer antler is SECURELY fastened to the stand with a countersunk, 2" wood screw. The notches along the sides of the stand are put in by hand using a secret method, and no two are EVER alike! The stand is a full 9&1/2" tall (straight up). As the picture shows, I also take the time to hollow out the bottom of my "verticle" stands to add weight so the knife is wholly supported with almost no danger of the stand being able to flip over. The weight is poured into an 'inclined' hollow so it can never fall out.
