This is
a fantastic combo to compliment any survival kit. A flint rod
***and*** and pocket knife on the same keyring.
The flint rod on this
keyring set is 1/4" diameter and 3&1/88" long including the copper
holder for the keyring. The flint rod is a man-made rod that has
become famous for it's ability to throw sparks! These rods are a
magnesium alloy so it will work to start a fire with just one firm,
solid, QUICK scrape. It will give you more scrapes for a fire than you
can keep count of. TIP: set the bare end of the flint rod on a safe
surface at the edge of your tinder and firmly scrape the flint the
length of the bar towards the tinder. Use the sharpened curved part of
the steel pocketknife to induce the sparks.
The knife is perfectly
sized to work with your kit. 4&3/8” long overall (opened) and 2&1/2”
long closed. Pocketknife has a 1&7/8” long blade that is ½ serrated
and ½ straight edge. The cutting tip of the blade has a slightly
curved edge that works perfectly for scraping the flint rod attached
to the keyring.
*****PLEASE NOTE***** The
knive color, style, and texture will vary with each set, but the SIZE
of the knife will not vary enough to notice. This set is available
with a 3/16" diameter rod also (see ITEM NUMBER: RFS5)
