This set has a flint/magnesium rod with a hardened steel striker for throwing nice, hot sparks enabling the owner to easily start the survival fire needed. This set is lightweight and small enough to put on your keyring or in your pocket, backpack, fannypack, etc. Keep one in your glove box, trunk, or tool box as well. Combine with SPIRIT WIND's other survival and fire-starter items to make your own custom kit.

The lanyard (rope) is made of durable nylon threads woven together to form an incredibly strong "mini" rope, which will last indefinitely. If ever needed, the threads can be separated for different uses suck as fishing line, wrapping arrows, etc. The lanyard length can vary with each purchase from aproximately 8" long (not shown) to 16" long (shown), which gives the owner enough length to use it for wrapping weapons or tools such as a knife onto a stick for a jabbing or throwing spear. The lanyard thickness can also vary per purchase.

The flint rod is a man-made rod which has become famous for it's ability to throw 2,000 degree+ sparks! It works VERY WELL to start a fire with just one scrape down the rod toward the fire starting tinder, because MAGNESIUM is mixed into the metal. It will give you more scrapes for a fire than you can keep count of. The flint rod with finger grip is almost 2&3/4" long. This set has a 3/16" diameter rod. After a couple of initial practice scrapes, anyone will be able to scrape it and throw a fire-shower of sparks with one run.
